The United Auto Workers union , shutting down factories affecting Detroit's three largest automakers and rocking the American car market.The stoppage has seen almost 13,000 workers, around 10 percent of the union's membership, walk off - causing GM, Ford and Stellantis production lines to grind to a halt.Although the automakers had been running their factories around the clock ahead of the strike to build up inventory for dealerships, analysts predict supply will soon start to wane.
