A high school baseball star who was injured in a freak accident at the school’s batting cages has been pronounced brain dead, nearly two weeks after he was hit in the head with a bat and placed in a coma.Jeremy Medina, 18, remains on life support at Northeast Medical Center in Gainesville, according to Dr. Michael Cormican, the hospital’s director of surgical critical care.Medina was placed in an induced coma after he was struck in the head on November 20. The teen played on the Red Elephants as a pitcher and catcher.
