Prospective homebuyers need to earn $50,000 more than they did in 2020 to be able to afford the average home in the US, grim new research reveals. Buyers must make $106,000 to be able to comfortably afford a property, according to from Zillow - which looked at the 50 biggest metro areas across the US. That is up more than 80 percent from the $59,000 required in January 2020 - laying bare the challenges Americans face being able to get and then pay for a mortgage.
