Honest cop bullied for ignoring pass cards flashed by NYPD relatives

A Staten Island cop is suing the NYPD after he was allegedly demoted for ignoring 'get out of jail' cards issued to officers' friends and family.

Mathew Bianchi, 40, from the traffic patrol, said he usually respected the cards, but was growing frustrated at seeing the same people pulled over repeatedly.

'I was a little bit naïve and I thought that, if I'm doing the right thing and I've done nothing wrong, it's very hard for somebody to articulate being able to punish me,' he told The . 'Doing the right thing — obviously, it's effectively killed my career.'
