Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson issued a passionate defense Tuesday of her history of sentencing child porn offenders, claiming her punishment could be viewed as 'soft' because guidelines are outdated in not accounting for the more widespread sharing with the internet.
Judiciary Chairman Dick Durbin gave the nominee a chance to address criticism claiming she is too soft on these crimes.
'The issue involving child pornography – I want to turn to that issue because it was raised multiple times … questioning your sentencing record in child pornography cases,' the senator said at the start of the second day of Jackson's confirmation hearing on Tuesday.
