A fire at a US chemical plant apparently caused by a sprinkler head malfunction overnight is forcing evacuations and road closures in the area, according to local officials.
The incident unfolded around 5am local time (7pm Sunday AEST) at BioLab in Conyers, Georgia. Water from the malfunctioned sprinkler head "came in contact with a water reactive chemical and produced a plume," county officials explained on their website.
CNN has reached out to BioLab, described as a manufacturer of pool and spa treatment products, for comment.
