A teenager removed by the state and kept at a hospital against her will before her mother killed herself over their separation and her family are finally getting their day in court close to five years after filing a lawsuit. Maya Kowalski, 17, was placed into state custody for three months after doctors accused her parents of faking symptoms of her debilitating complex regional pain syndrome (CPRS).Florida's Department of Children and Families and a state judge supported staff from Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital's suspicions of 'child medical abuse' and she was placed Maya under DCF custody.
