A party-line stopgap government funding bill went down in brutal defeat Friday afternoon - with 21 House voting against it. The continuing resolution, or CR, failed 198-232. All voted 'no' on the legislation that would have cut discretionary spending to $1.471 trillion and bolstered border security. The legislation had no chance of passing the , which is working on its own bipartisan spending bill to pun the Saturday deadline to fund the government in fiscal year 2024 down the road.
