A major oil spill was identified in the Gulf of after a nearby pipeline leaked 1.1 million gallons, threatening endangered sea turtles and whales.
The US Coast Guard identified the incident on Friday, determining this week that the black toxic petroleum came from a 67-mile-long pipeline off 's southeast coast.
The region is home to the world's most endangered sea turtle species and a group of whales that have fewer than 100 left.
