The National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. has revealed that a painting attributed to Johannes Vermeer wasn’t actually painted by the master.Girl with a Flute, a 17th century piece that depicts a small figure holding the musical instrument, was instead likely made by someone who studied under Vermeer, like an apprentice - or even a family member, the National Gallery said in a on Friday.
