Kids in will soon be able to sue their own parents if they fail to pay them profits from any social media posts featuring them, thanks to a new law sparked by a 16-year-old girl.The bill passed this week grants protections to minors under the state's Child Labor Law, after the issue of child exploitation on social media was brought to the attention of lawmakers by high school junior Shreya Nallamothu. Under the new rules, which come into force July 1 2024, after being signed into law by Governor JB Pritzker, influencers in Illinois will soon be legally required to share the profits made on posts with their kids.
