New Jersey Church group in fight to keep sun worshippers off the beach

A church group that built a 500ft long pier in the shape of a cross on a beach in is now fighting to keep people off the beach on Sunday mornings.

The Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association were accused of when they overrode local objections to build the pier near on the Jersey shore last year.

The Methodist group has a charter that allows it autonomy in the town of 3,000 souls that was founded as a Christian community and is known as 'God's square mile'.
