Nine candidates have thrown their hat in the ring to become the next House speaker as Republicans enter day 20 without a leader. The House has been for almost a month after eight Republicans led by Rep. , R-Fla., voted to oust former Speaker in an unprecedented action. Since then, Republicans have yet to find a candidate who can secure 217 GOP votes - the magic number needed to clinch the top leadership spot. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, last week after Majority Leader Steve Scalise backed out before a vote on his nomination even hit the floor.
