More than half a million people left New York for greener pastures out west last year, amid concerns about rocketing crime combined with sky-high rent prices, new data shows. The US Census Bureau has revealed an estimated 545,598 residents moved from the Empire State to other parts of the US in 2022 - with , , , and being the top states for relocation. By comparison, only 163, 416 people moved to the Big Apple region from within the US in the same period - marking an inter-state net exodus of minus 382,182.
