New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani hosted Columbia activist Mahmoud Khalil, the former graduate student arrested by ICE and later freed by a federal judge, for a Ramadan dinner at Gracie Mansion on Sunday night.
The mayor welcomed Khalil, his wife Noor Abdalla and their young son to the official mayoral residence to mark the Muslim holy month, sharing the moment publicly the next day on social media.
'Last night, as we marked the one year anniversary of his detention, Rama and I were honored to welcome Mahmoud, Noor, and their son Deen to Gracie Mansion to break our fast together,' Mamdani wrote in a Monday Instagram post.
