The re-election campaign of mayor Eric Adams was secretly funded by business leaders who then reimbursed donors, a bombshell report has claimed.Business owners in the city's hotel and construction industries asked people close to them to donate over $10,000 to the 's re-election bid, according to a joint investigation by The City, Documented, and the Guardian US. Three donors to Adam's re-election campaign claimed they, as well as two of their spouses, were reimbursed after making the donations - which would make them illegal straw donations, meant to hide the identity of those actually providing the funds.
