In recent years, the Southeastern Conference (SEC) has tried preventing students from rushing the field or the court after monumental victories in an attempt to prevent injuries to athletes and fans.
So, when less than 20 students at the University of (Ole Miss) rushed the court by upsetting No. 4 Tennessee in basketball this week, the school was hit with a $500,000 fine.
While "storming the court" or "rushing the field" is an incredibly common thing associated with college athletics, it nonetheless poses potential hazards to all parties involved.
