A growing number of Americans are involving counterfeit pills, health officials have warned. The proportion of fatal overdoses involving fake tablets more than doubled from 2019 to 2021, a report from Centers for Disease Control & Prevention () found. The pills are made to look like legitimate tablets, such as Xanax and Oxycodone, and often contain fentanyl.
