A huge painting by Edvard Munch that was hidden from the Nazis in a barn alongside a version of The Scream has sold at a auction for nearly £17million.
The 13ft long work, titled 'Dance on the Beach', had belonged to Norwegian shipowner Thomas Olsen who hung it in the first class lounge of a passenger liner that sailed between Oslo and Newcastle.
After invaded his homeland in 1940 Olsen took the painting down and stashed it in a barn deep in a Norwegian forest to prevent the Nazis from finding it.
