Princess Leia's dress from the original Star Wars movie fetched a highest bid of £770,000 at auction today after it had spent decades unwanted and dumped in a London attic - ripped, blood-stained and with food and wine spilled on it. But after the top bid fell short of the seller's minimum sale price it went unsold and it is now believed the highest bidder and seller will try and negotiate an agreement privately. Amazingly, the ceremonial white gown was regarded as of no interest to anyone after filming and it was left gathering dust for around 40 years and then stuffed in a plastic bag - while many other costumes from the movie were binned.
