One of America's top health officials has come under fire for saying that all pediatricians agree on providing children and teenagers with 'gender-affirming care' - despite vocal opposition to puberty blockers from doctors over the past few years.
Assistant Secretary of Health Rachel Levine - who is also America's highest-appointed female - told in a recent interview that 'there is [an] evidence-based standard of care for the evaluation and treatment of trans individuals' set by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health.
There have also 'been comments from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine, from the [American Medical Association], from the American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychological Association - all in support of evidence based standards of care for [gender-affirming] treatment,' she added.
