A sex offender who brutally beat a man was called an 'imminent threat to the community' at a parole hearing Saturday after New York Governor Kathy Hochul ordered him back in jail.Bui Van Phu, 55, a registered sex offender on lifetime parole, was allowed to walk straight out of Bronx Criminal Court on supervised release without bail until the governor demanded he stays behind bars following a public outcry. His parole officer, Nixa Rivera, spoke at his hearing: 'Mr. Bui is a 55-year-old male with a persistent violent felony offender history. Mr. Bui is a registered level three sex offender, the highest level on the sexual offender registry. Mr. Bui continues to be an imminent threat to the community.'
