Staff at schools are being trained to 'shoot to kill' in the latest move to tackle threats of violence in the classroom.
The guardian program encourages schools to appoint an 'armed guardian' to patrol the hallways and classrooms to tackle an active shooter.
The guardians have to be volunteers and can't be a teacher or a principal. They're also required to be in school for the entirety of the day, and are paid an annual stipend of $500.
