Republicans expressed a sense of optimism that they might actually have a House speaker by Tuesday night. On Monday the conference met for a candidate forum to hear from the nine Republicans who have thrown their name into the hat for the top job, but Rep. Dan Meuser, R-Pa., dropped out of the running at the top of the meeting. 'I think we're gonna solve this by tomorrow night,' Rep. Don Bacon, a moderate Nebraskan who voted against Jordan last week, told reporters.
