A father has shot dead four people including his three young children before turning the gun on himself at a church near the California capital of Sacramento according to the Metro Fire department.

Sacramento:Multiple people have been shot and killed inside The Church

A father has shot dead four people including his three young children and another unidentified person, before turning the gun on himself at a church near the state capital of Sacramento, television reported.

Sgt. Rod Grassman from the city's police force also confirmed there was a fifth person killed, however it is unclear if that person was also a family member.

The incident started at around 5:30pm on Monday when officers were called to the 'The Church in Sacramento' located on the outskirts of the city, reported
