A sailor who has spent two years travelling the world on his boat has opened up about suffering horrific burns when a paraffin cooker exploded when he was alone on his boat in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
Max Campbell, 27, was sailing solo as part of a three-month voyage in 2016 and 150 miles from land when the antique cooker set fire as he tried to light it.
He jumped into the water having suffered second degree burns to his 12 per cent of his body - on his face, arms, torso and chest - but had no option other than to go on sailing for two days until he reached shore.
