officials are launching a large-scale fruit removal from trees to contain a widespread Oriental fruit fly infestation in the state. The California Department of Food and Agriculture plans to remove all kinds of fruits hanging on tress from 2,000 homes in the Redlands area of San Bernardino County. Workers are going door to door to remove fruit from all 'citrus trees and other fruit-producing plants' from now through February. The trees will 'remain in place', according to the CDFA.
