Secretary of State Antony Blinken is set to appear before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday and will likely face questions from members about the Biden administration’s response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Blinken’s testimony comes just days after he and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin traveled to Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and promised millions of dollars in US military aid. A senior state department official revealed to Axios that the secretary is likely to detail the administration’s decision to send US diplomats back to Ukraine later this week, as well as the decision behind nominating Bridget Brink to serve as the next US ambassador to the embattled nation.
