British singer Self Esteem has hit back at comments made about her weight following her appearance on The Late Late Show With .

In a string of tweets published the day after her performance on the US chat show aired on Monday night, the rising star, whose real name is Rebecca Lucy Taylor, said she'd been on the receiving end of negative comments about her appearance.

The 'I Do This All The Time' singer, 36, tweeted: 'American people are calling me fat on the internet. Which is whatever but I really do feel like it’s a time warp here in terms of cultural societal expectations of femininity.'
