A sheriff's deputy in was shot by 'unprovoked gunfire' on his way to work in Ceres on Friday.The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office said the deputy was driving to work in a marked K-9 patrol vehicle near Central Avenue and Service Road around 7 p.m. on Friday when the gunfire broke out. No injuries or damage to the deputy's car were reported. Eight people have been detained and one person was arrested in connection to the shooting.
