Hundreds of Delta Airlines passengers were stranded at a remote Canadian military base for nearly 24 hours after their flight was forced to make an emergency landing. Flight 135 left Amsterdam at 1.15pm on Sunday and was due to land in Detroit nine hours later - but the crew had to divert the plane to Goose Bay in Newfoundland. Passenger Aditi Shankar told CBS: 'The issue they said was that there was a problem with the de-icing on one of the engines and they had to make a landing urgently.'
