Heirs to the Subway sandwich empire are selling the chain to a prominent private equity firm - reportedly for a plum $9.6billion.
was announced Thursday, and will see the world's largest restaurant chain come under the umbrella of Atlanta-based Roark Capital.
The sale - the second-largest North American restaurant acquisition in more than a decade - will serve to add to Roark's already extensive eatery empire, which includes reputable chains like Dunkin' Donuts, Arby's, and Carvel.
