Much HBO's audience was left stunned by the on Sunday night, although anyone familiar with the 1920 World Series could have easily predicted the show's outcome. It was in Game 5 of that postseason matchup when a Cleveland Indians second baseman named Bill Wambsganss turned the only unassisted triple play in World Series history: Brooklyn's Clarence Mitchell hit a liner to Wambsganss, who stepped on second to get Pete Kilduff before tagging Otto Miller on his way back to the bag.Cleveland would go on to win its first title, beating Brooklyn in the best-of-nine series, 5-2, while Wambsganss received a medal from fans to commemorate his rare feat. Unfortunately for Wambsganss, that medal would be lost while he was traveling through by train in 1921, according to a news brief from the time.
