A school district in has passed a new policy encouraging administrators to factor in race when disciplining students.The Clover Park School District board approved the new policy on a 3-2 vote on March 14, over the objections of board members who expressed concerns that it was ill-conceived. The district in the suburbs of Tacoma will now use 'culturally responsive discipline' that encourages school staff to impose punishments that 'may be adapted to individual student needs in a culturally responsive manner.'
