GrubHub's free lunch promo forced restaurants to throw out thousands of meals because delivery drivers could not meet the high demand of orders.
On Tuesday the delivery platform GrubHub announced that from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the entire city would receive a free meal of up to $15 but the intense demand led to thousands of orders to be cancelled.
The promotion was so popular that at one point GrubHub was averaging 6,000 orders per minute, GrubHub told DailyMail.com in a statement.
