Experts have suggested lowering the threshold for obesity after finding that millions with 'normal' BMIs are at risk of multiple cancers. Two major studies showed that men who had a body mass index of between 20 and 22.5 were at an 'elevated' risk of developing eight forms of the disease in their lifetime, including head and neck, pancreatic, and liver cancers. BMI is a crude measurement of how much body fat a person has compared to their height. A healthy range is between 18.5 and 24.9, while 25 to 29.9 is considered overweight, and anything over 30 is defined as obese.
