A fairground ride in Belgium has left three people in a critical condition after its safety bars malfunctioned, causing its riders to violently fly out of their seats. The spinning ride at the Ducasse fair in the village of Hestre, a suburb of Manage in southwest Belgium, was seen throwing its seven riders out of their seats and falling several metres as smoke and steam poured out, with onlookers overheard screaming in shock and panic. Bruno Pozzoni, the mayor of Manage, said hours after the incident on Sunday evening that all seven people, who were conscious when emergency services treated them at the scene, suffered injuries.
