Members of the Twitter board of directors who agreed Monday to accept Elon Musk’s bid to take over the online platform, donated thousands to Democratic candidates in recent federal races, public records show.
Omid Kordestani, a former Google executive who has been on the Twitter board since 2015, made donations to Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign in 2019 and supported Sen. Cory Booker the same year, giving each $2,800 in donations, Federal Election Commission filings show.
Kordestani also donated a total of $6,217 to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in 2016, according to federal filings. Two years later, he doled out $2,700 to Democratic military veteran Joseph Kopser for his 2018 campaign for Texas’ 21st Congressional District. Kopser lost the race.
