UConn wins Big East Tournament opener 73-56 over Villanova

In college basketball, there's something to be said for peaking at the right time. As long as you stay within range of the tournament, playing your best game in March could be all the boost you need to take a charge at glory.

UConn knows all about that. In 2011, the Huskies won five straight games at the Big East Tournament to win a conference title, climb to a three seed, then win a national title.

Such things won't happen this year (well, at least the climb to a three seed). Their rough winter ensured the Huskies will need to take an arduous journey if they hope to become the first school to win three-straight national titles since the UCLA Bruins of the 1970s.
