A major US nursing group has warned of a 'crisis of huge proportions' after the sector lost 100,000 nurses during the pandemic and a total of 900,000 will be gone by 2027.The National Council of State Boards of Nursing surveyed 29,472 registered nurses (RNs) across 45 states and found many complained of feeling 'burned out,' 'fatigued,' or at the 'end of the rope,' often during every shift.Roughly 100,000 nurses left these past two years due to retirements, during the pandemic, and another 610,000 plan to exit by 2027 for the same reasons, researchers found.
