A Victorian travelogue containing an army officer's photographs and brilliant sketches on his world travels has sold for a staggering £168,000.Mark Tanner explored and after retiring from the service in the 1850s when the practice of photography was in its infancy.He took rare early photos of landmarks including the Pyramids and the Great Sphinx of Giza, which was buried up to its neck in drifting sand at the time.
