Walmart strips self-checkout machines entirely from two stores

is continuing to remove self-checkout machines from its stores in what it claims is an effort to improve the 'in-store experience' for customers.

In two stores - in Shrewsbury, , and Cleveland, - the retailer said it would replace kiosks with staffed checkout lanes which will 'give our associates the chance to provide more personalized and efficient service.'

In reality, many retailers are ditching self-checkout kiosks because they are especially vulnerable to shoplifters.
