The flocks of birds that fill the skies during their long migrations and the herds of animals that make their way across vast expanses of land are dwindling in numbers as they navigate through regions that are becoming increasingly uninhabitable for them.About 44 percent of migratory species across the world are in decline while one in five faces the threat of all-out extinction, according to a new report from the United Nations. It is based on data collected by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).These species face shifting landscapes due to urbanisation, farming and climate change among several other challenges.
