Wind-fuelled wildfires on the Hawaiian island of Maui have burned multiple structures, forced evacuations, and closed schools in several communities, prompting some residents to try to flee into the ocean.The United States Coast Guard on Wednesday responded to areas where people went into the ocean to escape the fire and smoky conditions, the County of Maui said in a statement.The Coast Guard wrote on social media that a crew rescued 12 people from the water off Lahaina, an historic town in western Maui.
