President Biden spokeby phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky Wednesday for the first time since he blocked the transfer of Polish fighter jets to Ukraine and then made a series of verbal stumbles and gaffes about the US role in challenging Russia’s invasion.
The 55-minute call took place shortly after 11 a.m. and was the first solo call between Biden and Zelensky that the White House has disclosed since March 11.
The White House said the two leaders “discussed how the United States is working around the clock to fulfill the main security assistance requests by Ukraine.”
