Yellowstone National Park officials say a rare white buffalo - sacred to Native Americans - has not been seen since it was born on June 4.
The birth of the white buffalo, which fulfilled a Lakota prophecythat portends better times, was the first recorded in Yellowstone history and is a landmark event for the buffalo population's recovery, park officials said when confirming the birth for the first time.
But now, it is unknown whether the calf - named Wakan Gli, which means 'Return Sacred' in Lakota - is still alive.
