The wealthy union boss behind a dockworkers' strike that's choking shipping and causing billions of dollars of damage has delivered a stark message about the power of his 45,000 members downing tools.
In comments that have since gone viral, Harold Daggett, the leader of the International Longshoremen's Association (ILA), was unrepentant about shutting off half the country's ocean shipping.
Addressing reporters from the picket lines on Tuesday, Daggett, who earns some $900,000 per year and reportedly has a taste for luxury vehicles, said: 'Now you start to realize who the longshoreman are, right?'
