Photographer Rob Hammer has spent the last two years photographing modern-day cowboys working the cattle ranches of the western United States.
Taken in states including Montana, Wyoming, , Texas, , , New , Utah and Nevada, his photographs show in sometimes graphic detail how today's cowboys straddle the line between observing old customs of the cattle trade and embracing new technology.
The ranches he chose to photograph 'can be anything,' said Hammer, 'from a family that has a small herd of cattle, to some of the most historic ranches in the country that are that are up to 1.8 million acres.'
