One person has died and six others are missing after a 180ft superyacht carrying British passengers capsized off the coast in Sicily earlier today after it was struck by a tornado.
Twenty-two people were on board the Bayesian sailboat, including 12 passengers and 10 crew members, when it was reportedly damaged by destructive winds near Porticello between 4am and 5am this morning which led to it sinking.
Italian media reported 15 people, including a one-year-old child, were rescued by coast guard patrol boats and firefighters but six others, some of whom are understood to be British, remain missing with one body recovered from the shipwreck by rescuers.
