Youngbloods tenor Jesse Colin Young, whose catalog included the 1969 peace-and-love anthem , died Sunday at 83 at his Aiken, South Carolina home.
The singer-songwriter's death was announced by his publicist Michael Jensen, The reported Monday.
Young sang the chorus of the song, 'Come on people now/Smile on your brother/Everybody get together/Try to love one another right now,' which the newspaper described as 'one of the best-known refrains of the 1960s.'
